Eulogies Flow for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, adding that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the deaths, public personalities expressed varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering provocative remarks that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Talking on his show, Rogan characterized the statements as "shocking" and implied they demonstrated a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by proposing that an associate could have intervened when the decision to weigh in on the passing was made.
