Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for questions to be asked about his future following a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period like this with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
