President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has asked the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the executive mansion.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Mourners came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in the capital.

“She was the type of pupil that instructors desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of her previous school, stated to the media. “She was kind, caring and always eager to assist people.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Officials have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the government to pause asylum processing and halt issuing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told a news show that she aimed to meet with the family.

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor informed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
